The Beginning, The Survivors, The Nation! May14, 1607 the English settlers landed on Jamestown Island. Almost immediately they were under attack by the Algonquian natives. A wooden fort was built around their storehouse, church, and small homes. The fort was burned many times. Disease, famine, and continuing attacks took their toll. Determination, resolve, and the will to survive are their legacy. From the "starving time" to the arrival of new supply ships, some of them endured!
